The Discovery Of Gold In California
Changed This Land Forever!


In this two hour living history program, an exciting chapter of history will unfold for you and your students as spirited characters Zenus F. Wolfskill, and the Widow Sally Cope take them back in time to the 1850's gold mining camp of
"Get-Up-and-Get-It"

Program highlights will include:

  • Storytelling, guitar pickin and harmonica huffin
    by authentically costumed historical interpreters

  • A look at how the journey to California was made
    and the hardships travelers faced along the way

  • A comparison of the lives and fortunes
    of gold miners and merchants

  • A visit to the Widow Cope's general store
    and gold miners camp

  • Hands-on activities demonstrating a typical
    gold miners Sunday, including:

    • Washing clothes

    • Writing letters with quill pen and ink

    • Playing a game of 10 pin

    • and of course...PANNING FOR GOLD!

Cost is $260.00 per class of up to 35 students if the program is presented to more than one class on the same day. The cost for a single program for one class is $365.00.
